Two exceptional musicians at the Ploiești Philharmonic

We are rapidly approaching the end of February and the last event of this period – an extraordinary symphonic concert that brings back to the “Paul Constantinescu” Philharmonic of Ploiești two exceptional musicians, for whom excellence is built in detail: passion, talent, rigour, spontaneity and a constant desire to surpass their own limits.

On Thursday, 26 February 2026, on the stage of the “Ion Baciu” Hall, cellist Filip Papa and conductor Tiberiu Soare will take to the stage to give voice to a novel and colourful programme.

The evening will begin with the Overture to the opera “Alceste” by Christoph Willibald Gluck, a work in which the composer affirms his intention to reform the operatic genre, orienting himself towards the simplification of language and the subordination of music to the dramatic action. Next, maestro Papa will perform “Concertino in G minor for cello and orchestra, Op. 132” by Sergei Prokofiev, a score that combines lyricism with incisive rhythmic accents, offering the soloist the opportunity to explore varied tonal nuances and subtle expressive contrasts.

In the second part of the evening you will hear Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90, by Johannes Brahms, a work of maturity in which architectural balance and thematic refinement give birth to one of the most beautiful symphonic works of Romanticism, performed by the Ploiești Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Tiberiu Soare.
