Visit by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Her Excellency Mrs Marija KAPITANOVIĆ, to Ploiești
The mayor of the Municipality of Ploiești, Mr Mihai Polițeanu, received on Monday, 23 February 2026, at the municipality’s headquarters in Piața Eroilor No. 1A, the visit of Her Excellency Mrs Marija KAPITANOVIĆ, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Bucharest, in an official meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and opening new opportunities for cooperation between the two parties.
The meeting addressed the exchange of best practices in fields such as urban development, environmental protection, urban mobility, culture and education, as well as the identification of common directions for cooperation.
Her Excellency Mrs Marija KAPITANOVIĆ emphasised Croatia’s interest in intensifying the dialogue with local authorities in Romania and praised the potential of the Municipality of Ploiești in terms of economic and cultural development. Possibilities of cooperation between our municipality and cities in Croatia, within European projects or multiple joint initiatives, were also discussed – it is well known that, since 1996, Ploiești has had twinning relations with Osijek, an important economic and cultural centre of Croatia.
The mayor of the Municipality of Ploiești highlighted the local administration’s openness to international partnerships and expressed the wish to develop lasting relations with institutions and communities in Croatia, for the benefit of Ploiești citizens.
The ambassador’s visit represents an important step in strengthening diplomatic relations and in promoting intercultural dialogue, reaffirming the commitment of the Municipality of Ploiești to be actively involved in international projects.
