THE TWO YOUNG MEN OF VERONA – Wednesday, 11 February, 5:00 PM, Imaginario Animation Theatre Hall
The performance proposes a modern adaptation of the famous play written by William Shakespeare, viewed from the perspective of today’s young people, an incursion into the fragile and delicate world of adolescence, which makes the transition from childhood to adult life. A story in which various emotional aspects and elements from the sphere of human relationships intertwine, from loyal love to infidelity, or from unbridled passion to friendship put to the test. Valentin, a young man from Verona, who initially did not understand his friend Proteus’s feelings for Iulia, being sceptical of the power of love, arrives at the court of the Duke of Milan, where he falls in love with Silvia, the Duke’s daughter, a fact that leads him to discover an ardent love. Meanwhile, Proteus, sent to the same court, lets himself be carried away by the whims of his heart, betraying both his love for Iulia and his friendship with Valentin.
CACTUS FLOWER – Friday, 13 February, and Saturday, 14 February, 6:30 PM, „Toma Caragiu” Theatre Hall – Premiere
A comedy about „innocent” lies and truths that come to light at the most inappropriate moments. Antonia, a dreamy and impulsive young woman, ends up in a critical situation because of her hopeless love for Julien, a charismatic dentist, apparently married and the father of three children. Salvation comes from Igor, her nonchalant neighbour, an accidental witness of the entire drama. Faced with the consequences of his own inventions, Julien promises to divorce, trying to fix a lie that quickly gets out of hand. When Antonia asks to meet his supposed wife, his plans become even more complicated. Caught in a carousel of improvisations, Julien turns to the help of his devoted assistant, Stephane. An avalanche of mix-ups and comic situations follows, in which appearances are turned upside down. In the end, the characters discover that sincerity is the only way to true love.
