Ploiești City Hall and the „Ion Luca Caragiale” House of Culture of the Municipality of Ploiești are organising the „Nichita Stănescu” Poetry Festival, between 21 and 31 March of this year, one of the most important cultural events dedicated to the work and literary legacy of the great poet.
Now in its 36th edition, the festival turns Ploiești into a meeting place between poetry, cultural dialogue and contemporary creation.
Throughout the festival, the public is invited to take part in a series of events dedicated to literature and art:
- World Poetry Day – „Poetry Caravan”, a special moment dedicated to bringing poetry into the heart of the community;
- Poetry recitals, book launches and meetings with contemporary authors, organised within the „Atitudini” Cultural Soirées;
- Debates and conferences on contemporary poetry and its role in current culture;
- Artistic and musical moments, intended to complete the poetic atmosphere of the festival;
- Cultural events dedicated to the Francophonie, organised in partnership with cultural and educational institutions;
- The educational project „Aproape de Nichita” (Close to Nichita), dedicated to high school students;
- The county-level recitation contest for high school students „Sub aripa lui Nichita” (Under Nichita’s Wing);
- Tribute moment at the poet’s bust, by laying flowers in memory of Nichita Stănescu.
Ploiești thus becomes the place where poetry is spoken, listened to and lived, and the poetic legacy of Nichita Stănescu continues to inspire new generations of readers and creators.
