Ploiești is becoming a major hub for the development of youth volleyball in Romania!
The Mayor of Ploiești, Mr Mihai Polițeanu, took part in a working meeting with representatives of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, in the context of shaping a strategic partnership for the support and consolidation of volleyball among the younger generations.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, Mr Adin Cojocaru, the Vice-President of the federation, Mr Mihai Duță, the federal coach, Mr Petrișor Macovei, and the Director of the Ploiești Municipal Sports Club, Mr Lucian Rădulescu.

Discussions focused on raising Romanian volleyball to a higher level by tapping into the potential available locally. The Municipal Sports Club, together with private clubs, provides continuity and performance for the 13-19 age groups for boys (juniors and cadets), as well as for mini-volleyball and the “hopes” category for girls.
The central point of the meeting was the organisation of qualification matches for Romania’s U18 National Team ahead of the 2026 European Championship final tournament. In these qualifiers, Romania will play the national teams of Ireland, Estonia and Greece.
Ploiești City Hall expressed its full readiness to become a partner of the Romanian Volleyball Federation, undertaking to provide all the logistics required to ensure the competition runs in excellent conditions.
In addition to indoor volleyball, the local authorities have also shown a strong interest in the development of beach volleyball, with discussions on the possibility of holding a dedicated tournament and other sporting events in the period to come.
This meeting marks the gaining of a strong and reliable partner with a modern vision of sport.
The partnership between the two institutions creates the conditions needed for organising sporting events to high standards and for training new generations of top performers, contributing actively to building a sustainable future for Romanian volleyball.
We support performance sport and we are developing the relevant infrastructure!
