The „Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ploiești is organising the 20th edition of the fine arts competition „Ploiești, my city, a European city”, a cultural and educational project dedicated to stimulating creativity and the involvement of young people in community life.

The competition will be held between 16 April and 9 May 2026 and is open to pupils and young people from the Municipality of Ploiești, offering them the opportunity to express their artistic vision of the city in which they live, through works that reflect European values.

The proposed theme, „Ploiești through the eyes of young people”, encourages original approaches and personal perspectives on urban and cultural identity.

The event aligns with the objectives of the European Youth Week, promoting active involvement, civic dialogue, and European values such as solidarity, equity, and responsible citizenship through art.

The competition is organised in three sections:

  • pupils of the „Carmen Sylva” Art College in Ploiești (grades 9–12);
  • pupils of other educational institutions in the Municipality of Ploiești (grades 5–8 and 9–12);
  • young people aged between 18 and 35, residing in Ploiești.

Works in A3 format must be submitted at the headquarters of the organising institution (Eroilor Square, no. 1A, 7th floor) by 5 May 2026 at 12:00.

Judging will be carried out by a committee made up of professional artists and a representative of the institution, and the winners will be rewarded with cash prizes and diplomas. The teachers coordinating the prize-winning pupils will receive certificates.

The award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition of prize-winning works will take place on 8 May 2026, at the headquarters of the „Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ploiești, also marking Europe Day.

The „Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ploiești invites all young people passionate about art to take part in this creative project and contribute, through their own works, to shaping an authentic image of our city, in a European spirit.
