Ploiești City Hall and the Ploiești Garrison are organising events on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria, on Monday, 02 March 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, at the Hunters’ Monument by the South Railway Station.

The National Day of the Republic of Bulgaria is celebrated annually on 3 March and is known as the Day of the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman Rule. This day marks the signing of the Treaty of San Stefano on 3 March 1878, which ended the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) and re-established the Bulgarian state after almost 500 years of domination.

The ceremonies in Ploiești thus represent a tribute to the Romanian and Bulgarian soldiers who participated in the War of Independence, an important historical reference point for both Romanians and Bulgarians.

This year’s event will also be attended by a delegation led by His Excellency Mr Vlaykov Radko, Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in our country. Furthermore, alongside the Romanian military, a group of Bulgarian servicemen from the Multinational Division South-East will also attend the ceremony.

The programme of the event will include the welcome of the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria, the salute to the battle flag, the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, a religious service, speeches by the officials present, as well as the laying of wreaths and floral arrangements at the Hunters’ Monument.

We mention that, for the proper conduct of these ceremonies, the Municipal Commission for Transport and Traffic Safety has decided to halt road traffic on Independenței Boulevard, on the section between the Radu Stanian statue and the Hunters’ Monument area (South Railway Station), including the roundabout, on Monday, 02 March 2026, between 10:40 AM and 12:00 PM.

The Traffic Bureau of the Ploiești Municipal Police and the Ploiești Local Police will monitor compliance with this decision, while S.C. TCE S.A. Ploiești will plan the diversion of public transport in the area mentioned above.

We inform you that all traffic changes, whether temporary or permanent, are constantly updated in the WAZE navigation app:
