The Municipality of Ploiești is preparing to host one of the most important boxing events of the year – the „Dracula Open” International Boxing Tournament 2026.
The competition brings to the forefront top athletes, spectacular bouts and an electrifying atmosphere, specific to the great confrontations in the ring.
Boxing fans are invited to take part in this true festival of sport, where talent, determination and fair play will be at home.
The event promises high-level duels and the opportunity to support both Romanian athletes and the international participants who have come to prove their worth.
Between 16-21 February this year, at the “Olimpia” Sports Hall, hundreds of high-level boxing matches will take place, daily between 14:00 – 21:00.
For one week, at the Olimpia Sports Hall, 537 athletes (over 750 participants) from 18 countries, including three of the current world boxing superpowers – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine – will cross gloves in the Ploiești boxing ring, in a competition that will also feature the main medal favourites for the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for autumn this year in Dakar.
The first gong of the Dracula Open International Boxing Tournament 2026 will be struck on Monday, 16 February, at 14:00, and the grand finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday, 21 February, starting at 14:00.
Romania participates with full teams in all age and weight categories, men and women, with the people of Ploiești having 14 highly promising boxers at the start of the competition.
14 of Romania’s European medallists from last year, including European cadet champion Andrei Cașu, or junior vice-champions Timea Andreea Țapu, Alexandrescu Denis, Ulmeanu Florin, Iuseim Birhan will step into the Ploiești ring.
The 18 participating countries are: Romania, Italy, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, Austria, Kuwait, Israel, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Belgium, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Brazil, Greece, Serbia.
The people of Ploiești, and not only, are awaited in as great a number as possible to support the competition and to contribute to the atmosphere of a large-scale event, which consolidates the status of our city on the map of major sports competitions.
The „Dracula Open” International Boxing Tournament 2026 is organised by the Romanian Boxing Federation, in partnership with the Municipality of Ploiești and the Ploiești Municipal Sports Club.
