An integral part of this extensive cultural event, the „Sub aripa lui Nichita” (Under Nichita’s Wing) County Recitation Competition for high school students, now in its 19th edition,  brought together in the  Council Hall of the Ploiești City Hall over 20 high school students from Prahova County, offering them the opportunity to express their artistic sensitivity and present to the public works from Nichita Stănescu’s body of work and from Romanian lyrical poetry.

Following the assessment carried out by the specialist jury, composed of Mihaela Rus, director of the „Toma Caragiu” Theatre Ploiești, Miriam Dumitrescu,  artistic consultant within the same institution, and Marian Dragomir, Romanian language and literature teacher, director of the „Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ploiești, the following winners were designated:

  • First Prize – Rebeca Mehes, „1 Mai” Technological High School Ploiești;
  • Second Prize – Rareș Ștefan Vișinescu, „Mihail Cantacuzino” College Sinaia;

We are joyful and proud, at the same time, that the Nichita-spirit has, also at this end of March, inspired all lovers of poetry, reverberating perhaps more than ever, the emblematic verses of the Blond Angel of Romanian poetry: „Corner of heart and broken angel’s wing, the capital of the spoken language is this city of mine, my native town!”
