Mayor Mihai Polițeanu met on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at the headquarters of Ploiești City Hall, with Mr Vasile Cîtea, President of the Romanian Boxing Federation, boxing coach and Honorary Citizen of our city, Titi Tudor, as well as with Mr Lucian Rădulescu, Director of the Ploiești Municipal Sports Club, in order to settle the details concerning the organisation, in Ploiești, between 15 and 22 February 2026, of the “DRACULA OPEN 2026” International Boxing Tournament.

The matches in this competition – eagerly awaited by lovers of the sport and hosted by the “Olimpia” Sports Hall – are expected to draw more than 500 athletes and thousands of supporters, who will cheer in unison with those in the ring, in a Category A competition that is part of the largest non-elite tournament in the world.
Ploiești is proud to have been chosen as host city for this important sporting event and we are convinced that, together with the other organisers – the Romanian Boxing Federation and the Municipal Sports Club – we will once again place our city on the map of Romania’s most important sporting events.
