“Like an Evening Star I Passed Through the World” – poetry, emotion and talent in Ploiești!
To mark National Culture Day, the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of Ploiești (Casa de Cultură “Ion Luca Caragiale”) was pleased to organise the 13th edition of the county recitation contest “Like an Evening Star I Passed Through the World” (“Ca un Luceafăr am trecut prin lume”). The event was held between 12 and 28 January 2026, in the Council Chamber of Ploiești City Hall.
The atmosphere was charged with emotion, and the participants impressed both the audience and the jury with their outstanding recitations.
After careful deliberation, the jury – made up of Ms Mihaela Rus, Director of the “Toma Caragiu” Theatre, Ms Miriam Dumitrescu, artistic consultant at the “Toma Caragiu” Theatre Ploiești, and Mr Marian Dragomir, Director of the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of Ploiești – was pleased to announce the winners of this year’s edition:
- First prize: Florentina Antonia Popescu, from the “Virgil Madgearu” Economic College Ploiești;
- Second prize: Sofia Maria Balcan, from the “Carmen Sylva” Arts College Ploiești;
- Third prize: Maria Beatrice Vlaicu, from the “Regina Maria” National Pedagogical College Ploiești;
- Honourable mention: Andra Ioana Dragomir, from the “Carmen Sylva” Arts College Ploiești;
- Honourable mention: Brândușa Iuliana Berindei, from the “Nicolae Grigorescu” National College Câmpina.
We are delighted to be part of this fine cultural tradition and look forward to future editions of the contest, in which poetry continues to bring generations together.
