Ploiești City Hall and the Ploiești Garrison are organising a ceremony of historic significance to mark the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities, on Saturday, 24 January 2026.

Ploiești residents are invited at 12:00, on the esplanade of City Hall in Piața Eroilor no. 1 A (opposite the “St. John the Baptist” Cathedral), where the bust of Prince Al. I. Cuza stands, to mark together the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities!

The event is dedicated to the historic act of 1859, the founding moment of the modern Romanian state, when Moldavia and Wallachia united under the rule of Prince Alexandru Ioan Cuza.

Through this public event we wish to  honour the values of unity, solidarity and national identity.

The ceremony will be attended by representatives of Ploiești City Hall, local councillors, county officials and members of parliament.

The event will open with the military guard performing the salute to the battle flag. The National Anthem of Romania will then be played and speeches will follow, marking the importance of this great event in our history.

Bouquets of flowers will also be laid at the bust of Prince Al. I. Cuza, gestures full of emotion and respect that will remind us of the importance of unity and national solidarity.

At the end of the ceremony, all those present will join hands in the “Hora Unirii” (Dance of the Union), a symbol of the reunion of our people.
