The month of love brings to the „Toma Caragiu” Theatre, near Valentine’s Day, the premiere of the comedy „Cactus Flower”, a journey through the multiple and unexpected facets of love. Written by Pierre Barillet and Pierre Grédy, two famous French playwrights who gave classic vaudeville a modern and refined form, the play, translated by Angela Plati, is staged in Ploiești by Dragoș Câmpan, the director of the shows „Ce vor fetele”, „Cuscrii din Tirana” and „Sorry, Charlie!”, with stage design by Maria Dore.

The first performances of this new production from the repertoire of the Majestic Revue Theatre section can be watched on Friday, 13 February, and Saturday, 14 February, at 6:30 PM, in the „Toma Caragiu” Theatre Hall.

The cast includes Cosmin Șofron, Dana Vulc, Paula Trifu, Vlad Nicolici, Robert Oprea, Mihaela Duțu, Alin Teglaș and Alexandra Dumitrescu.

Antonia, a sensitive and impulsive young woman, is in a love affair with Julien, a charming dentist who is, apparently, married and the father of three children. Overwhelmed by uncertainty about the future of the relationship, she resorts to an extreme gesture, and salvation comes from Igor, the amusing and nonchalant neighbour, who unwittingly becomes the witness of the whole tangle.

When he finds out what happened, Julien panics, and his world is turned upside down. Between a busy career, an assistant who is a model of professionalism and various tangles with patients, he tries desperately to fix the situation and promises Antonia that he will divorce and marry her.

Eager not to break up a family, the young woman insists on meeting the supposed wife. Caught in the trap of his own inventions, Julien convinces his devoted assistant, Stephane, to play this role.

The meeting between the two women triggers a series of mix-ups, amplified by the appearance of an improvised „boyfriend”, intended to support the farce. As the lies pile up, the truth inevitably comes to light, and the characters are forced to confront their real feelings. In the end, Antonia discovers Igor’s sincerity, and Julien understands that true love has always been beside him, in the discreet figure of Stephane.
