The “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of Ploiești (Casa de Cultură “Ion Luca Caragiale”), with the support of Ploiești City Hall, is organising on Friday, 30 January 2026, from 11:30, the launch of the volume “The Histories of Ploiești in Comics” (“Istoriile Ploieștiului în benzi desenate”).

The event will take place in the Nichita Stănescu Hall of the “Nicolae Iorga” County Library in Ploiești.

The volume offers an original and accessible take on local history, blending careful research with the expressiveness of comics, in a cultural project for readers of all ages. Through evocative illustrations and dynamic narratives, readers are invited to discover episodes, characters and defining moments from Ploiești’s past, reinterpreted in a modern and engaging format.

The project is the work of Dorin Stănescu, Bogdan Buturugă, Ștefan Buturugă, Octav Ungureanu and Alexandru Ciubotariu, authors who combine a passion for history, illustration and visual storytelling.

The event will be moderated by Mr Marian Dragomir, Director of the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural Centre of Ploiești, and will include the presentation of the volume, remarks from the authors and organisers, and a dialogue with the audience on the importance of new ways of promoting local cultural heritage.

Admission is free.
