“A Gringo for the 21st Century”, solo concert by AG Weinberger on the “Toma Caragiu” Theatre stage
Friday, 6 March, from 6:30 PM, in the “Toma Caragiu” Theatre hall, we invite you to enjoy a special musical experience offered by the well-known guitarist and composer AG Weinberger, who will give the solo concert “A Gringo for the 21st Century”.
“A Gringo for the 21st Century” proposes a musical journey in which authentic blues intertwines with shades of jazz, improvisation and modern accents, in a stylistic adventure defined by original tempos, emotion and refinement. Through a synthesis of influences ranging from classical references to electronic music elements, the artist creates a unique sonic universe, complemented by guitar loops, voice, harmonica and lap steel guitar, all filtered through his unmistakable mark.
A continuous flow of sound, image and colour that brings to the foreground the story of a Gringo who pulses vividly to the rhythms of the present and evokes, through suggestive acoustic images, the most captivating experiences of the last century, reinterpreted through the means of contemporary technology.
Originally from Oradea, AG Weinberger is considered the pioneer of blues in Romania and one of the most appreciated blues and jazz performers in Eastern Europe. A guitarist, performer, composer and producer with a career spanning over four decades, the artist, also known as “Mr. Blues of Romania”, has significantly contributed to promoting this musical genre on stages at home and abroad, creating a recognisable and profound artistic language by blending the American sonic heritage with European sensibility.
