“Santa’s Republic” Opens Its Gates This Weekend in Ploiești!

The Ploiești Christmas Market – Santa’s Republic – opens its gates on Saturday, 29 November 2025 and promises, as every year, a storybook atmosphere for everyone passing through the festively decorated city centre.

The event will remain open until 11 January 2026, giving visitors plenty of time to enjoy the magical decorations, lights and seasonal activities at their leisure.

The official opening will take place on Saturday, 29 November this year, at 6:00 p.m., on the esplanade of the Administrative Palace, where the Christmas tree is also located and from where the festive lights throughout the city will be turned on. 

As every year, the special moment of switching on the festive lights is entrusted to the children, who will press the “magic button” marking the start of the winter holidays in Ploiești. The evening will continue with live music performed by Andres Chiriac and Raluka.

On Sunday, 30 November this year, the festive atmosphere continues in the civic centre of Ploiești and will be sustained, starting at 7:00 p.m., by Charlene, Amme and Zdob și Zdub, who will bring great music and cheer to the Ploiești audience.

This year, the Christmas Market is set up in the area of the Palace of Culture, on the pedestrian zone and around “Nichita Stănescu” park, transforming the city centre into a vibrant space, full of magic and activities for all ages.

The Christmas Market awaits all Ploiești residents with unique attractions for spending leisure time:

·         Ice rink;

·         34 m Ferris wheel, for spectacular views over the city;

·         Amusement park – carousel, little train and many surprises for the youngsters;

·         Christmas Market – craft items, ornaments, handmade products and inspired gift ideas.

The food area will feature traditional dishes, treats for the holiday tables and a generous space dedicated to food trucks.

Santa Claus is sure to come to Ploiești because this is his republic!
