The Awarding Ceremony of the „Opera Magna” Prize, an exceptional event organised by the „Ion Luca Caragiale” House of Culture of the Municipality of Ploiești in partnership with the Writers’ Union of Romania, took place in the Marea Unire Hall of the Palace of Culture in Ploiești.
At its first edition, the „Opera Magna” Prize aims to bring to the foreground those creators who, through their entire literary and intellectual work, have contributed substantially to the development of Romanian culture. It is not merely a distinction, but a recognition of authentic value, of a body of work that crosses time and inspires generations.
The laureate of the edition is the writer Gellu Dorian – poet, essayist, editor and cultural promoter – a prominent figure of Romanian literary life. With a career spanning more than four decades, he has stood out through a rich poetic body of work and through cultural initiatives intended to support literature as a space of freedom and spiritual dialogue.
The ceremony took place in the presence of a prestigious jury, composed of:

– Christian Crăciun – Prof. Dr., literary critic
– Dan Gulea – Prof. Dr., Editor-in-Chief of Atitudini magazine
The event brought together writers, critics, professors, students and lovers of literature from across the country, underlining the importance of revaluing contemporary literature and the role of cultural institutions in consolidating a modern, European cultural identity. 🇷🇴
Through this prize, the „Ion Luca Caragiale” House of Culture marks a significant moment in its affirmation as an institution of reference, capable of generating cultural initiatives of national scope and of bringing to the foreground authors who define Romanian literary excellence.
The ceremony also opened the „Ion Stratan” Literary Creation Camp – 5th edition, a project that has become a cultural tradition of the House of Culture, dedicated to poetry, critical reflection and dialogue between generations. The camp gathers in Ploiești writers, professors, pupils and young people passionate about literature, in a setting of creation and inspiration.
The „Opera Magna” Prize marks the beginning of a new stage in promoting the literary prestige of Ploiești – proof that authentic values deserve recognition, space and continuity.
