On the occasion of 176 years since the birth of Mihai Eminescu, the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural House of the Municipality of Ploiești is organising three special events, as part of the National Culture Day Project, intended to pay tribute to Romanian cultural values.

  • Educational project “Aproape de Eminescu” (Close to Eminescu)

The activity is aimed at pupils from Prahova County and will take place on 15 January 2026, outside school hours. The project involves all educational levels – preschool, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary – and aims to cultivate interest in the work and personality of the national poet.

  • County recitation contest “Ca un Luceafăr am trecut prin lume” (Like an Evening Star I have passed through the world)

Now in its 13th edition, the contest is dedicated exclusively to upper secondary school pupils (full-time courses) and will be held between 12–28 January 2026. Participants will recite poems from Eminescu’s work, promoting the artistic talent of young people and authentic cultural values.

  • Cultural trip – Participation in the festive session “Ziua Culturii Naționale” (National Culture Day)

Representatives and collaborators of the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural House of the Municipality of Ploiești will take part in the festive session organised by the Romanian Academy, which will take place on Wednesday, 15 January 2026, in the Aula of the Romanian Academy, Bucharest, starting at 10:00.

At the same time, on 15 January 2026, at 12:00, the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural House of the Municipality of Ploiești will lay flowers and organise a commemorative artistic moment at the statue of the poet Mihai Eminescu, situated in the centre of Ploiești, as a sign of respect and appreciation for the work and cultural heritage of the great poet.

Through these initiatives, the “Ion Luca Caragiale” Cultural House of the Municipality of Ploiești reaffirms its commitment to supporting the educational and cultural development of the community, to highlighting the Romanian literary heritage and to encouraging dialogue between generations.
