„Model Parliament Ploiești 2025” – An authentic parliamentary experience for young people passionate about politics

Mayor Mihai Polițeanu attended today the official opening of the „Model Parliament” conference, an unprecedented event that brings together this weekend young people passionate about politics, public administration and legislative processes, offering them the opportunity to understand, through direct experience, how a democratic parliament functions.

The „Model Parliament” conference is organised by the EUcivitas Association and is taking place today and Saturday, 11 October this year, at the municipality’s headquarters.

The interactive debate brings together dozens of young participants, who have the opportunity to experience legislative work through a realistic and well-structured simulation.

The participants take on the role of parliamentarians and debate, propose and vote on draft laws, working together to improve them. This simulation helps them develop critical thinking, team spirit, argumentation skills and an understanding of democratic processes. 

For better organisation, „Model Parliament” is structured into four thematic committees – Education, Environment, Economy and Foreign Relations – each focusing on essential domains of society. Within these committees, participants discuss current themes: education reforms, sustainability, the circular economy, international cooperation and modern public policies. 

Each young person thus has the opportunity to work on subjects that reflect the real challenges of the contemporary world.

Mayor Mihai Polițeanu congratulated the organisers and the young participants for their courage and seriousness and urged everyone to remain active and engage with the community to which they belong.
