The Mayor of Ploiești, Mr. Mihai Polițeanu, signed today the works execution contract for the direct connection between Gara de Sud and Gara de Vest

The works execution contract was signed together with Mr. Alexandru Băiculescu, deputy director of S.C. HIDRO SALT-B-92 S.R.L. București, the works contractor.

The official event, which took place at the City Hall headquarters, was also attended by the former Mayor of Ploiești, Mr. Adrian Dobre, during whose mandate this project was submitted for funding.

The Project “Ensuring traffic mobility by extending the road and public transport link between Gara de Sud and Gara de Vest (Libertății Street), including rehabilitation works on the public domain of the station squares – phase II” represents a major investment in the urban mobility of Ploiești.

The total length of the streets subject to modernisation connecting Gara de Sud and Gara de Vest is 2,830 linear metres.

The route starts from Piața 1 Decembrie 1918 and Depoului Street up to Gara de Vest and intersects with Rudului, Macazului, Sondelor, Bobâlna, Domnișori streets.

The investment route will be flanked by safety lanes for cyclists and by sidewalks. Also, at the intersection of Depoului Street and Rudului Street, a special parking and bicycle pick-up area will be set up, comprising 20 spaces.

Technical details of the investment:

· Road surface area: 37,345 sqm

· Parking spaces: 570 sqm

· Stopping platforms at public transport stations: 737 sqm

· Sidewalks: 6,503 sqm

· Concrete kerbs 20×25 cm: 6,116 lin.m.

· Concrete kerbs 10×15 cm: 11,349 lin.m.

· Cycle path: 5,366 lin.m.

· Bike-sharing stations: 20 spaces

· Rubber delineator posts: 1,570 pieces

Green space landscaping:

· Grassed green areas: 9,022 sqm

· Platanus and hybrid trees (plane tree): 204 pieces

Along the future axis, which will provide a direct road connection between the West and South areas of Ploiești, 8 bus/trolleybus stops will also be installed, equipped with modern urban furniture.

At each passenger waiting station, anti-vandalism, infrared exterior surveillance cameras will be installed.

These will be powered by multimode optical fibre and will transmit the recorded data to a communications management centre.

The public transport stations will also include illuminated totems providing information, as well as waste bins for selective collection.

The trolleybus overhead contact line will be built using a compensated solution, supported by stainless steel multifilament cable cross-bracing, and with the help of brackets made of electrically insulating material. For the electric power supply of the trolleybus line from Gara de Sud to Gara de Vest, a direct current container-type traction substation will be installed.

On the future road axis, street lighting will be provided by LED sources both for vehicle traffic lanes and for pedestrian walkways.

The project also includes a series of works that will involve diversions, restorations, protection of utility networks, and connections to utility networks.

This project is dedicated to improving the quality of life in our city, through modern and sustainable infrastructure, intended to improve traffic flow.

The modernisation of the link between Gara de Sud and Gara de Vest will facilitate urban mobility, will make road traffic times more efficient and will encourage the use of environmentally friendly modes of transport.
