Ploiești is an important road and rail hub, with quick links to Bucharest, the Prahova Valley and the main cities in the south and east of the country. Locally, public transport covers all neighbourhoods through a network of buses, trams and trolleybuses, complemented by regional routes operated by private carriers.

Local public transport (TCE)

Public transport in the city

The local public transport service is provided by TCE Ploiești, through:

  • bus lines, covering all neighbourhoods and links to industrial areas;
  • tram lines, serving the main north-west and north-south axes;
  • trolleybus lines, part of the low-emission mobility strategy.

Travel tickets and payment options

TCE Ploiești offers several ways to pay for your journey:

  • classic tickets and travel passes, bought from TCE points of sale;
  • electronic tickets by SMS (7445);
  • payment with a contactless bank card, directly on board the vehicle;

TCE vehicles are equipped with single-journey ticket vending machines, with payment via contactless Visa or Mastercard cards.

How to pay via POS:

  1. hold the contactless card to the device and wait for the receipt to be issued;
  2. if the screen displays “Transaction approved” but the receipt is not printed, do not repeat the operation – multiple payments may be made for the same journey;
  3. before checking tickets, the inspection team verifies the devices and, if these do not issue receipts, no penalties are applied to passengers in this situation;
  4. if you notice that there are no more receipts, please notify the driver if you can; at the end of the line they will check the device and replace the roll or alert the technical team.
  • payment via the 24pay app, from your mobile phone.

The 24pay app lets you buy travel tickets directly from your mobile phone, using your bank card.

  1. the app is available free of charge for Android and iOS (Google Play, App Store, Huawei AppGallery);
  2. on first use, you add a Visa or Mastercard bank card to the app;
  3. transactions are processed securely, via Visa/Mastercard technology, by an authorised payment processor;
  4. after the payment is confirmed, the digital ticket is available in the app and can be shown to the inspection team.
