This week, some of the most popular shows in the repertoire of the Majestic Revue Theatre return to the public’s attention, offering a carousel of emotions, music and stories that have delighted entire generations, while younger audiences are invited to set off alongside the legendary Sinbad on a fascinating adventure.

BIRLIC – Friday, 30 January, 18:30, “Toma Caragiu” Theatre Hall

“Birlic” is a tightly built, brisk, tasteful comedy, free of vulgar artifice. It speaks to us about bankruptcy, marriage, love, betrayal, opportunism, social climbing, responsibility – notions so serious, yet softened by a wild humour, while the flow of good cheer tempers the elements of satire and social criticism. (…)

“Birlic” is more than just the story of a small bourgeois from Fălticeni who is sent by his boss to the capital to try to save a company on the brink of bankruptcy, where he finds himself caught up in the romantic intrigues of Bucharest. BIRLIC brings back to an increasingly fading collective memory the names of a great actor, Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, of a great playwright, Tudor Mușatescu, and of a giant of the theatre, Sică Alexandrescu. DĂ, DOAMNE, CÂNTEC! – Saturday, 31 January, 18:30, “Toma Caragiu” Theatre Hall

“Dă, Doamne, cântec!” (Lord, Grant Us a Song!) is a musical journey that takes audiences through the world of famous songs by the much-loved composer Viorel Gavrilă, performed by the soloists of the Majestic Revue Theatre, accompanied by the Majestic Orchestra and Ballet.

In this show, the visions of two creators of beauty meet and intertwine: the composer’s deeply sensitive music and the staging by Răzvan Mazilu, who brings his own directorial, scenographic and choreographic touch.

“Dă, Doamne, cântec!” is a tribute to love, beauty and the ever-young soul, a show that crosses the boundaries of time and space to celebrate the harmony of music, verse and dance. Special guest: Gabriel Dorobanțu.

ZARAZA – Sunday, 1 February, 18:30, “Toma Caragiu” Theatre Hall

A love story that has stood the test of time, turning into legend, a love that continues to fascinate through mystery, passion and destiny, “Zaraza” brings back to life the atmosphere of interwar Bucharest, where the city lights mingled with striking life stories and the streets vibrated to the steps of the artists of the day.

On the theatre stage will ring out the immortal melodies once performed by Maria Tănase, Cristian Vasile, Zavaidoc and Jean Moscopol, and the echo of these voices becomes the magic thread that brings to life a world long gone but never forgotten.

Between the elegance of the costumes, the grace of the choreography and the refinement of the orchestrations, “Zaraza” is an invitation, touched by nostalgia, to rediscover the charm of a city where love was almost an unwritten law and every moment seemed to come from a novel lived intensely, with deep emotions and complex destinies. In this universe with the scent of a bygone era and evenings spent by lantern light, the characters meet, fall in love, lose and find each other again, carrying in their souls the burning flame that turned Zaraza’s story into a symbol of impossible love. This performance is sold out.
