The Municipality of Ploiești will host the South-East Regional of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition!
The South-East Regional of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition will take place at the „Olimpia” Sports Hall, between 7-8 February this year.
FIRST Tech Challenge is an educational robotics programme dedicated to high school students, in which teams design, build and program robots from scratch to solve technical challenges on the playing field.
The programme promotes STEM education, teamwork, innovation and the development of leadership skills, and is implemented in Romania by the Nație prin Educație (Nation Through Education) organisation.
The large-scale competition, which will take place this weekend in our municipality, will bring together 600 participants from the counties of Prahova, Buzău, Ialomița, Tulcea, Galați and Brăila.
The 32 robotics teams that will be present at the Ploiești event will compete for qualification in the National Championship, which will be held in March of this year, in Bucharest.
- On Saturday morning, the technical inspections and team judging will take place, followed by the opening ceremony, and in the second part of the day the qualification matches will be held.
The schedule of the first day of the competition will run from 09:00 to 18:30.
- On Sunday, the matches will take place, then the alliance selection will be held, followed by the finals (playoffs) and the award ceremony, the moment when the winners of the competition will be designated. The schedule of the second day of the contest will run between 09:00 and 18:00.
At the South-East Regional of the FIRST Tech Challenge competition, admission will be free for the public, and the event will take place inside the „Olimpia” Sports Hall, offering all those interested the opportunity to watch live the robotics matches in a competitive atmosphere.
The Ploiești event is organised by Nație Prin Educație in collaboration with the three Prahova teams mentioned: BraveBots, Eastern Foxes, inf0(1)Robotics.

The Nație Prin Educație Association is a non-profit association founded by Dana Războiu, which promotes and supports STEM education annually for over 5,000 high school students and their mentors. Since 2016, the association has been the organiser of the FIRST Tech Challenge National STEAM Education Programme. The association develops and coordinates all aspects of the project concerning the teams in Romania, organising annually regional and national competitions dedicated to high school students.
