The Municipality of Ploiești, consistent in marking, year after year, the work and personality of one of Romania’s most representative poets – Nichita Stănescu, is preparing, through the I.L. Caragiale House of Culture Ploiești, for March, the 36th edition of the „Nichita Stănescu” Poetry Festival, a landmark event dedicated to contemporary poetry and to the memory of one of the most emblematic lyrical personalities of Romania.
In this context, the „Ion Luca Caragiale” House of Culture of the Municipality of Ploiești, in partnership with the Writers’ Union of Romania, is organising the „Nichita Stănescu” Literary Debut Contest, a project dedicated to discovering and supporting new voices in Romanian poetry.
The contest, in its 2nd edition, takes place between 6 February – 31 March 2026, with its highlight being the launch of the winning volume during the „Nichita Stănescu” Poetry Festival, which will take place at the end of March 2026.
The contest is open to natural persons with Romanian citizenship who are over 14 years old and have not previously published a poetry volume.
To register, participants must complete the online form available on the casadecultura.ro website and on the official social media pages (Facebook, Instagram), between 6 February – 2 March, until 10:00 AM.
Manuscripts will be evaluated based on the criteria of originality, literary value and coherence, with the jury’s decision to be communicated by 13 March 2026 at the latest, on the website and the official social media pages of the organisers.
The winning volume will be edited and printed by the „Ion Luca Caragiale” House of Culture of the Municipality of Ploiești.
