Ploiești City Hall reminds residents that burning dry vegetation, stubble, and plant residues is prohibited – actions which can pose a significant fire risk, especially during periods of drought or in areas with abundant vegetation.

According to public notices issued by the “Șerban Cantacuzino” Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of Prahova County (ISU)the burning of stubble, dry vegetation, and plant residues may be carried out only after obtaining a permit for work involving open fire (permis de lucru cu focul), in accordance with the General Norms on Fire Protection, approved by Order no. 163/2007 of the Minister of Administration and Interior.

The disposal by burning of waste, household residues, and dry vegetation is to be carried out in accordance with the provisions of art. 52, par. 3, point b, and art. 94, par. 1, point n, of Law no. 265/2006 approving G.E.O. no. 195/2005 on environmental protection, which refer to the obligation to obtain the consent of the Environmental Protection Agency (Agenția pentru Protecția Mediului) and to give prior notice to the Voluntary Emergency Service (SVSU) in the case of burning stubble, reeds, or grass vegetation, and to the prohibition of using open fire on the territory of protected natural areas.

It is important to comply with the regulations in force regarding the burning of vegetation and to take precautionary measures in order to prevent uncontrolled fires.

The risks of uncontrolled burning of dry vegetation are major:

  • fires can spread rapidly to households, forests, and agricultural crops;
  • danger to human and animal life;
  • destruction of the environment and of fertile soil;
  • traffic accidents may be caused by thick smoke.

Citizens are required to comply with the rules prohibiting the burning of dry vegetation.

Otherwise, fines amount to up to 15,000 lei for individuals and up to 100,000 lei for legal entities. Furthermore, farmers risk losing their subsidies in this field.

Recommendations to the public in order to avoid fires in this context:

  • Do not light fires in open spaces, especially in windy conditions!
  • Do not throw lit cigarette butts onto land covered with dry vegetation!
  • If you notice an uncontrolled fire, call the emergency number 112 to request help!

Following the rules can save lives, homes, and the environment!

Act responsibly to protect life and nature!
