The Prahova County Youth Foundation (Fundația Județeană pentru Tineret Prahova – FJT Prahova) organised, today, the “Representative for a day” project, an initiative held on the occasion of European Youth Week (24 April – 1 May) and in the lead-up to the National Youth Day (2 May).

European Youth Week – SET (Săptămâna Europeană a Tineretului / European Youth Week – EYW), organised by the European Commission and the European Parliament, represents the main European framework dedicated to promoting the involvement of young people in democratic, social and civic life. Held between 24 April and 1 May 2026, this year’s edition has solidarity and equity as its theme, under the slogan “All in for Change”.

As part of this initiative, held at the headquarters of the Ploiești Municipality, four young people had the opportunity to participate directly in the activity of the local public administration, alongside the Ploiești executive.

Thus, Luca Radu Ioniță was representative for a day of the Mayor of the Ploiești Municipality, Mihai Polițeanu, Daria Ioana Drăghici worked alongside Deputy Mayor Zoia Staicu, Flavius Cosmin Grigore accompanied the activity of Deputy Mayor Alexandru Florian Săraru, and Mihai Meiroșu took part in the activities included in the working agenda of the public administrator, Cristian Ardelean.

Throughout the day, the young people were integrated into the institution’s programme as active observers, having the opportunity to take part in meetings, discussions and current activities, to understand the responsibilities of public office and to interact directly with decision-makers. The experience included a presentation of the institution, involvement in administrative activities and direct, constructive dialogue on topics of community interest.

The “Representative for a day” project is a national initiative of the National Youth Foundation, implemented at local level by FJT Prahova, which aims to bring young people closer to the decision-making process and to encourage their active involvement.

Through this initiative, the organisers promote institutional transparency and the participation of young people in local democratic life, providing them with civic education and a real perspective on how public administration works.

“Representative for a day” is more than a one-off experience; it is a concrete step in shaping a generation that is engaged, informed and responsible, capable of contributing actively to the development of our community.

The local “Representative for a day” initiative is directly aligned with the SET 2026 objectives, offering young people the opportunity to understand from within the activity of local and county public administration, to interact directly with the representatives of institutions, and to contribute new ideas and perspectives on the development of the community. Thus, “Representative for a day” becomes an unprecedented experience and a concrete exercise in participatory democracy, in the spirit of the European message of the 2026 edition: All in for Change.

Together for a city as we wish it to be!
